What the server stores

Privacy

No advertising network, no tracking cookie, no third-party fonts: every article here loads from this domain alone, and the one page that loads anything else is the contact form. What the web server logs, how long those lines live, what an embedded video from another site can see, what the form collects and who handles it, and the one value the notice remembers — all of it is set out below.

Short version: this site serves pages. It does not run an advertising network, does not build a profile of you, and sets no cookie in order to track you between visits.

What is stored when you load a page

The web server records the request: the address you asked for, the time, the response code, the size of the response, the browser's user-agent string and the IP address the request came from. These are ordinary server logs, they are kept for a short period for operational reasons — spotting an attack, finding a broken link — and they are not combined with anything else.

Cookies and the one thing we remember

The site sets no cookie at all: no identifier that would let us recognise you between visits, and nothing an advertising network could read. The notice at the foot of the page stores exactly one value in your browser's own local storage when you dismiss it — the flag f41-cookie-ok, so that the notice stays dismissed. It never leaves your browser, it is not sent with any request, and clearing site data removes it. No analytics tag, no advertising pixel and no social-network script runs on these pages.

The form on the contact page

One page on this site accepts data: the form on Contact Us. It is the only place where your browser loads a file from another host, and the only place where anything you type reaches us.

What it collects is what you type into it — your name, your email address and your message — and nothing else; there is no hidden profiling field, and the one input you cannot see is an empty spam trap that must stay empty. What happens to it: the form is served and received by fortunida.com, which runs it for us as our processor and passes the message on; the lawful basis is your own request to be answered. We keep the message for as long as the correspondence is useful and delete it when you ask us to. On every other page of this site nothing is loaded from another host at all, so opening an article sends your address to nobody but this server.

Things that are embedded

A small number of older pages carry a video embedded from an external platform, and a small number carry a link to another site. An embedded video is loaded from that platform when you scroll to it, and at that moment the platform sees the request. If you would rather that did not happen, do not play the video. External links are marked and leaving this site means that site's rules apply, not ours.

Fonts and images

Every font and every image on this site is served from this domain. Nothing is fetched from a font CDN, so on an article no third party learns that you opened a page here; the single exception is the contact page, where the form file comes from the host named above.

Contacting us

If you write to us, we keep the message so we can answer it, and the section on the form above says who handles it on the way. If you ask us to delete correspondence, we delete it. There is no mailing list to leave, because there is no mailing list.
